Synopsis
The detective chief Bernd Seifert Menkhoff and Alex are about to leave for the evening, when she receives a phone call in which a man tells of a kidnapped child. When the two arrive there, the surprise is great because before them as the psychiatrist Dr. Lichner, who was sentenced 15 years for a murder of a little girl and now is free again. The abducted child must appear to be his, but he insists at all to have a child. Bernd Menkhoff, the Lichner even at the last case behind bars has brought, is certain, in this case Lichner has his finger play. If someone wants the psychiatrist again to prison for a crime that he allegedly did not commit? Why Menkhoff is so obsessed that this man has committed a crime again?

own opinion
The essence for me was the first novel by Arno Strobel and I wanted to read this thriller necessarily, as I have heard after his first novel, The Wing only good things about the author. Unfortunately I can not say whether Arno Strobel with this novel has developed or not.

The story is built up in two time steps, in the years 1994 and 2009. experiences from the 1994 you how it came about that Lichner had to go for so many years in prison. 2009 plays in the here and now, after 13 years in prison Lichner is again at large and is again charged with a crime - whether rightly or not, that is not betrayed. The chapters are relatively short, but in the end there is always a nice cliffhanger, so that the reader would immediately go into the next chapter. The time change makes for a good power setup with which the reader gets more information that will make the case clearer, but not give too much price.

Arno Strobel understands the reader again and again piecemeal information zuzuspielen and the voltage continuously . Increase Especially ingenious is that you never know whether these new facts agreed to or not. For constant, the psychiatrist Dr. Lichner his finger in the game and then one can not be sure, what corresponds to the truth.

What is for me a reason why the book gets a point deduction, is that I do not make friends with the character of Detective Chief Superintendent Bernard Menkhoff could. Maybe it was his surly nature or because he has maintained from the beginning of total doggedly to his opinion and was not open to other solutions. He is sometimes also to his friend and partner Alex Seifert been biting or become abusive. Commissioner Seifert, however, I liked from the beginning. Because he was critical of the case, even though his partner had been from the beginning has an opinion and get carried away by emotions. To this end he is very sympathetic to the reader and finally convinced. The suspect has

psychiatrist Lichner for me embodies the typical villain. Through his whole manner and how he speaks, he was the reader from start to feel uneasy. What I like but even more were the conversations between him and the Chief Commissioner Menke. The two are two characters who can not smell at 100 meters and during their dialogue was the dislike and hatred to literally feel. Dr. Lichner is particularly true of the first case against disparaging Menkhoff and does not think much of this and his work. Thus, in his tone against this always to be found a trace of sarcasm, which for me was very amusing.

The end for me is the climax of the book, because there finally running together all strands and it is really nerve-wracking. The resolution is very sophisticated and well designed, I think. Up to this point, I could not tell who the perpetrator and who is the real victim, because while the book is always between two suspects to and fro. For me it is certainly a successful conclusion of the thriller.

Conclusion
Anyone looking for an exciting and not too bloody or brutal thriller, which is being discussed with the right place. The tension is there from the beginning and is maintained over the whole novel out by well-inserted information. It is, however, to one, if you can cope with the character of Detective Chief Commissioner Menkhoff - I'm not.
